Description
Despite its ancient foundations, the building's current appearance is the result of significant renovations carried out in the early 20th century to accommodate the community's administrative functions.
In 1912 architect Stanislao Cagliari supervised the restoration of the building and the reconstruction of the façade, giving elegant and sober features in line with the contemporary cityscape. This twentieth-century design harmoniously blends the solidity of the sixteenth-century foundations with the aesthetics of the time, making it an oustanding example of Emilia-Romagna's cultural heritage. Entering the building, visitors and citizens are welcomed by an elegant and monumental staircase leading to the upper floors, which are the heart of institutional activities. The building houses precious historical treasures, including plaster busts by Luigi Mainoni, which pay tribute to renowned figures tied to the history of the area. The City Council Hall, recently renovated in March 2025, is particularly noteworthy. The renovation contributed to making the hall a lively and solemn place of representation.
